Jyotish · The Science of Light
Vedic Astrology
The 12 Rashis — the Vedic zodiac signs.
Your Sovereign Karma.
Jyotish, “the science of light,” is India's ancient astrology. It reads the sky by the fixed stars rather than the seasons, and when it asks your sign, it means the Moon's. Enter your birth date, time and place to find your Janma Rashi, the sign the Moon held when you were born, along with your nakshatra, your rising sign and your Sun.
Western astrology measures the zodiac from the seasons. Jyotish measures it from the stars. The two now sit about 24 degrees apart, and the gap widens by one degree every 72 years, so your Moon, your Sun and your rising sign will each usually fall one sign earlier here than in a Western chart.
